Frequently Asked Questions

What if It is Raining?

If it is significantly raining at the start of the tour, you are welcome to cancel for a full refund. If it is just damp and drizzly, we ride. That is one of the joys of the Maine coast! In the spring and fall, a wind breaker is often a good idea.

What if I need to cancel because my plans change?

If you cancel 24 hours or more before your tour, you will receive a full refund. If it is within 24 hours, you will be charged a 50 dollar booking fee, per party, to cover the cost of the scheduled tour guide.

What about Lunch?

If you are along for the 3-hour tour, you can bring a small picnic or purchase lunch at “Bite into Maine” at the Portland Headlight for an additional fee. They are renowned for the best lobster rolls, clam chowder and caprese sandwiches in the area. They also have gluten free options.

If you are renting and want some lunch stop recommendations-we have plenty!

Where can I park?

There is plenty of FREE on street parking around the Lighthouse Bikes shop. The signs say 2-hour, but you can safely disregard them. If you are coming from Portland, you may want to walk across the Casco Bay Bridge. There is a pedestrian walk way the entire length and some great views.

What comes with my bike?

All bicycles come with a sanitized helmet that is strongly recommended, but not required, and a combination lock to keep you and your bike safe while you explore.

Rental bikes come with hand drawn maps to give you some local insight about the most beautiful route to take to get to the lighthouses.
